On 19 October 2018 Queen Mary University of London together with BEITEN BURKHARDT invited and hosted the expert conference 'More Than Just a Game' for the first time in Germany.

In the offices of BEITEN BURKHARDT in Frankfurt am Main lawyers, industry representa-tives and scientists discussed the challenges and legal issues concerning the video game industry - from the protection of minors through the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to the right of return for digital content, cryptocurrencies, filesharing and streaming.

After getting acquainted in a relaxed atmosphere on the evening before the Conference which was also supported by the industry platform GAMEPLACES Frankfurt, the broad programme was initiated on 19 October at 9:30 a.m. with greetings by Dr. Gaetano Dimita of Queen Mary University and Dr. Andreas Lober, Partner of BEITEN BURKHARDT. German and international experts provided information from their daily practice in panels and lectures. Apart from legal experts representatives of major publishers such as Nintendo, Epic Games and Wargaming also attended the conference.

"I have accompanied the conference 'More Than Just a Game' several times already in London and Paris", explains Dr. Andreas Lober. "I am particularly pleased that we have been able to bring this format also to Germany and that the launch event we have organised has been such a success with its excellent speakers and outstanding guests."

After exciting lectures and panel discussions both speakers and guests seized the opportunity of deepening exchange with finger food and drinks.
