Mikhail Gorbachev is awarded Medal for Special Services regarding a united Europe and world

On 17 January 2019 Mikhail Gorbachev was awarded a medal and certificate of merit in recognition of his special services to the federal state of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania (Federal Republic of Germany) regarding united Europe and world.

Falk Tischendorf, representative of the federal state of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania in the Russian Federation, awarded the medal and certificate of merit at the Gorbachev Foundation.

Manuela Schwesig, Minister-President of the federal land of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania (Federal Republic of Germany), disclosed on 1 November 2018 that the federal land planned to award the medal to Mikhail Gorbachev during a ceremonial meeting dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the German-Russian Forum.
