Russian–German Chamber of Commerce holds Compliance Conference for the first time as part of Germany Week

On 17 November 2020 the first AHK Conference on Corporate Compliance was held as part of Germany Week, with the support of the German General Consulate in Saint Petersburg, the Hanns Seidel Foundation, the Goethe Institute, and the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It was arranged by the Compliance Committee of the Russian–German Chamber of Commerce (AHK). The conference was moderated by Falk Tischendorf (Beiten Burkhardt), AHK Board member and chairman of the Compliance Committee, together with Evgeny Kiselev (SAP CIS & SEE), deputy chairman of the Committee.

Dr. Dietrich Möller, who has served for many years as CEO of Siemens in Russia and Senior Vice-President of Siemens AG and who is today the AHK authorized representative for high-speed rail and the EAEU, gave an interesting talk based on years of practical work, in which he noted that "Compliance is one of the foundations for the development of honest competition", and shared his experience in this field.

The first panel discussion yielded a fascinating conversation between the compliance specialists of major companies in various industries: Diyas Assanov (Siemens Energy Russia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia), Elena Bogdanova (OOO Grohe), Ekaterina Fedorchenko (OOO Kuehne+ Nagel), Evgeny Kiselev (SAP CIS & South-East Europe), and Denis Roshchin (OOO Merck). The members of the panel shared their experiences in achieving effective compliance control and arranging communications between employees in the new "online reality", and also how they best ensure that the rules of compliance control and security measures are followed in the home office. During the second panel discussion, experts shed light on important aspects of legal, tax, financial and regulatory compliance in Russia.

Falk Tischendorf and Evgeny Kiselev then presented Compliance Initiative 2.0, the text of which will be published on the AHK website on 1 December 2020. The conference was attended by more than 80 representatives of German and Russian companies. Special thanks are due to acting General Consul of Germany in Saint Petersburg Ute Katzsch-Egli, AHK Board Chairman Matthias Schepp, the whole AHK team in Saint Petersburg headed by Wladimir Nikitenko, Hanns Seidel Foundation head Jan Dresel, all the speakers and active members of the Compliance Committee, and also to Committee Coordinator Andrey Sizykh.
