Susanne Klein is Partner at BEITEN BURKHARDT's Frankfurt office and member of the IP/IT/Media practice group. Her area of expertise comprises information technology, data protection and copyright law. She advises her national and international clients, namely in the media and technology sector, on all legal aspects of IT law, in particular by drafting, reviewing and negotiating relevant contracts, inter alia, on software development and implementation, IT support and maintenance, software licenses, IT outsourcing, and Cloud, SaaS and other IT infrastructures, including GTCs and Terms of Service for online and mobile applications (B2B and B2C). This also includes consultation on copyright, law of unfair commercial practices and personality rights in IT related issues. In the field of data protection she advises, assists and coaches data protection officers, executives and staff of companies, performs compliance checks and reviews and prepares required documentation. She also provides strategic advice on the structuring of international data transfers or the use of big data, as well as in cases of data protection violations.
Susanne Klein studied law at the Universities of Gießen, Hagen, Hanover and at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, and was admitted to the German Bar in 2008. Previously, she was a research assistant at the Leibniz University of Hanover for several years, before she earned a Master's degree in IT-Law and IP-Law with distinction, joining the European Legal Informatics Study Programme (EULISP). Additionally, her master thesis was distinguished by the advancement award of the German Foundation of Law and Informatics. Before joining BEITEN BURKHARDT she was a lawyer in the IT/Media/Data Protection practice group of Göhmann Lawyers Notaries at Hanover. In March 2013 Susanne Klein was awarded the titles "IT Law Specialist" and "Operational Data Protection Officer" (TÜV NORD-certified). She has been working with BEITEN BURKHARDT since 2016 and became Partner in 2018.
