20 June 2017, Moscow – On 7 June 2017 Andrey Slepov delivered a speech "Refinements to legislation on personal data and Big Data" at the first Meeting of the State Duma’s Expert Council for the Development of the New Technological Generation.

The meeting was also attended by: 

• Denis Pavlovich Moskvin, Chairman of the Expert Council, member of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, Innovative Development, and Entrepre-neurship;
• Oleg Vladislavovich Fomichev, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia;
• Roman Alexandrovich Shaykhutdinov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan and Minister of Computerization and Communications of the Republic of Tatarstan;
• Pavel Alexandrovich Gontarev, General Director of SAP CIS, Chairman of the Committee on the Digital Economy of the Russian-German Chamber of Foreign Trade.

Discussions during the meeting included issues of the regulatory support for joint development of software products and international cooperation in the area of the digital economy; priority projects for the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia in the development of innovative regional clusters and support for private high-tech companies, and other issues.

The Expert Council was created in February 2017 under the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, Innovative Development, and Entrepreneurship. It brings together representatives of all parties interested in the effective development of the contemporary Russian digital economy. The newly created Expert Council will engage with a number of fields related to the launch of the digital economy programme. These include: legislative support, the digitalisation of Russian industry (the development, launch, and implementation of modern production facilities), digitalisation of the public sector (electronic purchasing and sales) and the creation of a single digital space for the Eurasian Economic Community.
