White-Collar Crimes and Tax Offences

The complex, progressive regulation of business increases the risk that individuals and companies will face criminal or administrative fine procedures.

It is imperative that such situations are handled professionally from the very start.

We advise both companies and individuals on all areas of white-collar crime and tax offences.

Providing comprehensive advice in relation to proceedings before law enforcement and prosecution offices, supervisory and administrative authorities, as well as tax authorities and courts is a core area of our work.

We assist with internal investigations, providing independent advice and thoroughly clarifying alleged wrongdoing. We also ensure that evidence is properly secured, so that it can be used in court proceedings.

Any defence should start immediately in such cases. That is why we provide support during unannounced searches by authorities and have a dawn raid team available nationally, at call.

We represent victims and injured parties in criminal proceedings, enforce claims for damages and provide support in securing and recovering assets.

We take an interdisciplinary approach in all areas of white-collar crime and work closely together with our international network of experts.

Witness counsel

Our many years of experience confirm: it is vital that individuals are protected when interviews are being conducted. This is particularly true in investigations into complex white-collar crimes, as witnesses are rarely able to accurately comprehend or gauge the scope of the proceedings and the possible impact that those proceedings will have on their own position.

We provide advice and support during interviews by law enforcement, supervisory, administrative or tax authorities and courts. This allows us to optimally represent the interests of our clients from the start.

Interplay with other areas of law

White-collar crimes often exhibit elements of other areas of law, such as labour, data protection, insolvency, antitrust, capital market or tax law.

At the same time, the interplay with insurance matters, but also with tort law and the law governing professions, is intensive.

We provide interdisciplinary advice on all areas of commercial law and assemble highly specialised teams, as needed, and advise on the relevant intersections.

We also understand the ins and outs of these “interactions” when numerous prosecution and supervisory authorities are involved.
